Feminist Critique/Deconstruction

I would describe myself as a feminist, so I was eager to apply a feminist perspective to Hamlet for this essay. I could see many ways to apply the issue of gender to Hamlet, so I ended up turning in two rough drafts for peer review The first concept involved the ways that Ophelia faces sexism and the second concept was the issue of Hamlet’s masculinity, and the ways its is questioned and displayed throughout the play. Only the one that I chose to pursue for my first revision has been linked to this document. I once again chose to pursue Ophelia’s predicament as the basis for an argument because I found her perspective most intriguing.

The final version of this essay can be found in my presentation portfolio under “Sexism in Hamlet”.
